I read a few links but there in one of the posts it is written about saffrom terror and denigrating hindu religion. Please refrain from commenting on religion.Hindu religion is in itself very vast and profound and very logical.
I do not have anything against those who post in critic of Sri Sri because he is just a cheat , but please do not spread misconception about Hinduism. It is the only religion which even after 400 yrs of Muslim rule and 200 year of Christian rule still stand close to 1 billion strong. It is the sanatan dharma. The concept of sarva panth sam bhaw is given to the world by hinduism which does not persecute other religions just like all others do.

Chapter 013 : Official Information About Sudarshan Kriya Part Four

In the first four instances, it is claimed that Sudarshan Kriya has a high success rate in the context of PATIENTS suffering from DYSTHYMIA.

Some of the relevant parts of the report are :

SK&P has ‘remarkable therapeutic effects’ in treating dysthymia and that it “… may be a more acceptable and efficacious alternative to medical management of dysthymia for both acute treatment and relapse prevention.

“…has independent antidepressant effects…exerts its antidepressant effect in about 3 weeks…[and] is uniformly effective”

The authors concluded that SK&P is “.. a good alternative for the management of dysthymic patients.”

    So, what is DYSTHYMIA ?

And, why has Sri Sri Ravi Shankar put all members of the Art of Living Foundation through treatment for DYSTHYMIA ?

    According to Wiki …

Dysthymia (/dɪsˈθaɪmiə/ dis-thy-mee-ə), from Ancient Greek δυσθυμία, “melancholy”), sometimes also called neurotic depression, dysthymic disorder, or chronic depression, is a mood disorder consisting of the same cognitive and physical problems as in depression, with less severe but longer-lasting symptoms. The concept was coined by Dr. Robert Spitzer as a replacement for the term “depressive personality” in the late 1970s.

Dysthymia often co-occurs with other mental disorders. A “double depression” is the occurrence of episodes of major depression in addition to dysthymia. Switching between periods of dysthymic moods and periods hypomanic moods, is indicative of cyclothymia, which is a mild variant of bipolar disorder.

    These are the symptoms …

    1. During a majority of days for two years or more, the adult patient reports depressed mood or appears depressed to others for most of the day.
    2. When depressed, the patient has two or more of:
    i. decreased or increased appetite
ii. decreased or increased sleep (insomnia or hypersomnia)
    iii. Fatigue or low energy
    iv. Reduced self-esteem
    v. Decreased concentration or problems making decisions
    vi. Feels hopeless or pessimistic
    3. During this two-year period, the above symptoms are never absent longer than two consecutive months.
    4. During the first two years of this syndrome, the patient has not had a major depressive episode.
    5. The patient has not had any manic, hypomanic, or mixed episodes.
    6. The patient has never fulfilled criteria for cyclothymic disorder.
    7. The depression does not exist only as part of a chronic psychosis (such as schizophrenia or delusional disorder).
    8. The symptoms are often not directly caused by a medical illness or by substances, including drug abuse, or other medications.
    9. The symptoms may cause significant problems or distress in social, work, academic, or other major areas of life functioning.

The only reason why all of us are told to practice SK is because Sri Sri Ravi Shankar thinks that all of us are suffering from DYSTHYMIA.

While in NIMHANS, where these studies were conducted, various established processes were used to “evaluate” patients, we were never evaluated using “Hamilton Rating Scale for Depression, Beck Depression Inventory, Clinical Global Impression, Subjective Global Impression, Comprehensive Psychopathology Rating Scale and a video version of BDI.”

We were never evaluated before SK and we weren’t evaluated after SK. Isn’t that odd ? We were administered antidepressants in the form of SK which is administered to patients suffering from Dysthymia but we were never evaluated. Not only that, based on this study which included only “patients” and no normal people, we were told that SK is good for us.

Why does Sri Sri not see the difference between stress relief and an antidepressant ?

If you google “define stress”, you’ll get :

a state of mental or emotional strain or tension
resulting from adverse or demanding circumstance

If you google “define depression”, you’ll get :

severe, typically prolonged, feelings of despondency and dejection

So, why does Sri Sri think that we should fear stress so much that we should do SK which is an anti-depressant ?

What would happen to a normal person who is occasionally stressed out if he or she consumed an antidepressant for one, two, three or four years or longer ?

Has that been researched by NIMHANS ?

Has Sri Sri been evaluated in NIMHANS ? What do doctors think about his paranoia that makes him treat everyone for symptoms of Dysthymia ?

The last two studies in the report talk about the effect of SK on people who are being treated for major depression. In the 5th study, that treatment includes electric shocks.

Do you think a sane person would make everyone go through treatment for Dysthymia without a proper diagnosis and evaluation ? More importantly, should this be done without the consent of the patient or the guardian of the patient ?

Is this the behaviour of an incarnation of God ? Is this the behaviour of an “enlightened master” ? Or, is this the behaviour of an uneducated quack ?

And, if you are actually suffering from Dysthymia, wouldn’t you rather go to NIMHANS where proper doctors will tell you and your guardians whether you are in the category of the 68% or so who are responding to treatment or if you’re in the category of the 32% who are not responding to treatment ?

Last but not the least, I truly hope that after reading this report, you will not claim that Sudarshan Kriya is a “divine revelation” because it simply doesn’t work in 100% cases according to qualified doctors who conducted a proper study in NIMHANS. At best, it’s a breathing technique which doctors think is akin to an anti-depressant. I also hope that you won’t claim it’s a stress buster because there’s too much of a difference between stress and depression.

If Sri Sri wanted to be a psychiatrist, he should’ve studied medicine in a proper institution and become a qualified medical practitioner. What he is doing is a crime.
